Fall Convocation - September 3, 2015

Appalachian State University’s fall convocation will be held Thursday, September 3, at 10 a.m. in the Holmes Convocation Center on campus.

The speaker for this year’s Convocation will be Ishmael Beah, subject of the 2015 Common Reading Book, A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Solider.

Video audio recording devices are not allowed for this event. For the protection of persons and property, access to the Holmes Convocation Center may require searches of any person or possessions.

Convocation will not be live streamed this year. Please plan to attend in person at the Holmes Convocation Center.

Class Information

In order that faculty, staff, and students may attend Fall Convocation, classes will begin on Thursday, September 3, at 12:30 pm.

The Freshman class, will be escorted to the main floor upon entering the Holmes Convocation Center. We encourage all First Year Seminar classes to presses in the ceremony and to be seated as a class on the main arena floor.

Guest Speaker

Ishmael Beah, born in Sierra Leone, West Africa, is the New York Times bestselling author of A Long Way Gone, Memoirs of a Boy Soldier and Radiance of Tomorrow, A Novel both published by Farrar Straus & Giroux.
